Hit mission bay this morning at grey light. tide was bottomed out at like a 0. tide was turning and starting to come in. started throwing the 1/2 oz. dirty war swimjig with a med willow leaf attached. slow rolling it through the grass was the ticket. The bass were on the chew from the start. They have moved into shallow water as well as the deeper water. It was a bite or fish every third cast or so. I had 7 fish within the first half hour. My mission was to get a big hali, I knew they were out there, since I had a giant hitch hike on a lizard fish the other day. So I moved out to some hali areas to see if I couldn't find one. It didn't take long and I had a nice hali on the war blade. didnt have a good measuring tape but taped at just 22. tried to get a good pic but shook loose during the pic. I think I call it paddy rappahed. anyway kept on finding the bass, so switched up to a drop shot with a fluke to see if I could find some. Nope more bass then the lizzys. I pinned a lizzy on the rig and drifted the area. Got a good pick up, and let it run a bit to eat the bait, but when I set the hook it pulled the bait/hook. Guess what I could find another lizzy to safe my life. lol. So I tied on a 5" swim bait that was the closest color to a lizzy. started to blast it as I was leaving when I got slammed, set the hook one good pull and bust off the 15lb flouro leader... tied my last one on and gave it another go. got two good bites and missed fish. just as I was leaving I gave an area a work over when whamm. fish on. good drag runs hard pulls. boom nice wsb came up. looked close to legal so I netted it. came up just short a few inches. but a great fight on the bass gear......legs were getting tired and wind was up so i headed in. picked up a few more sbb on the swimmy and bolted....Great morning out there, the fish are chewing, Now the question. hit the green bass pig pen. or head back down to the bay........HHHMMMMM
