I went fishing today on my float tube and caught some fish. It was cool.

No but really I fished SD Bay with Kevin from T&C lures and a couple other guys. Hit the water at 0630ish and had a steady pick of small spotties the entire morning. Overcast skies kept the bite going longer than normal but I noticed the bite instantly shut off a few times (one of those times was at the tide change). I REALLY need to keep a log book to start establishing patterns when out on the water. For the day I had about 12 spotties the biggest going a weak 12 inches Embarassed . Managed two halibut up to 18"......all fish were caught on the drop shot today. Lot's of bait in the water as well.....later in the morning I saw I big boil and made a quick cast and got slammed by something big.....then it came off Evil or Very Mad

Total counts between all of us:

Spotties: A ton of dinks...biggest was about 15"
Halibut: 3-4 Biggest was my 18 incher

Also, Kevin fair hooked a smooth hound shark...that was pretty cool. He thought it was a huge halibut.

The end.

Sounds good that all of you made it on the water. I find the incoming tide swing (2 hrs. after low tide and 2hrs. before high tide) is when the fish have been the most active. This also applies on the out going tide.
Also a higher tide change makes a difference. A 5 foot swing produces better than a 3 foot.
I always check [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] before I plan an outing.
What part of the bay did you fish?

Thanks for the info Phil. Im pretty conscious of the tides and stuff but lately I'll take any day I can get out regardless of tide.

We fised near the coronado bridge....we saw a ton of other tubers and tooners out their too.

And Jeff I have a crappy pic of my hali and a few pics of the shark...ill upload them later for all to see.
