Well, I finally got news from my sister Kim that my family is okay. The last two days have been stressful by not knowing their status. My mom, my brother and his family and my sister and her family are dealing with Sandies aftermath. All of the towns have declared an emergency and are asking for assistance. Trees are down all over the place and so are the elctrical wires and phone lines. There were only three gas stations that were operating in their area and they had lines that went for a mile or more at each one. Stores without power cannot operate. Think of how fortunate we are, electricity, food, and clear roads. They really need help back there and it will be needed for sometime until they can get back on their feet. Electrical grid restored, stores reopened, and roads cleared. Food and water are their immediate concerns.
Anything you can give will help tremendously. I would suggest the red cross tropical storm Sandy. I know if it happened here we would want someone to help us. Thanks.

Phil, glad to hear the family is okay. My family is doing good too (Boston, MA). The storm didn't hit that area too hard but I know the people in New York and New Jersey are suffering pretty bad right now.

HOW TO HELP The Red Cross has a massive response to Sandy underway that spans multiple states. “The people in this country have always been wonderful when it comes to helping others. The Red Cross needs their support again as we help people affected by this devastating storm,” Shimanski said.
People can make a financial donation in support of Red Cross Disaster Relief by visiting [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
