east county sd river 3-11-13

hit up the sd river (rcp) yesturday. caught alot of fish but they were all dinks. about 10 or so.i threw a war eagle spinner bait most of the time. all the fish were caught close to the tullies. i think i made the mistake of throwing a spinnerbait that was just flying by the bedding females who wouldnt react. only the tiny males would hit it.

next time im gonna toss a big jig, work the bait super slow. hopefully the bedding females will feel threatened and hit the jig. im gonna fish rcp again to hopefully see if thats the ticket. the depths next to the tullies is pretty deep. 10ft at the least with huge drop offs after a few feet. nothing really picture worthy but i know someone that was catching multiple 5+ lbers just a week back.

for the sd river thats actually a decent amount of fish caught but man.... catching dinks isnt really all that exciting.
