Hello All!

My name is David and I'm new to the forums and looking into getting a Float Tube. I am a Kayak owner and looking for something easier and faster to get on the water for short sessions.

Seems like there are a lot of great ppl on the board and lots of good info. I recognize some of the names from my other fishing board scsurffishing Very Happy (I go by Joeblo there).

I am 5'9 and 160 lbs and am looking for a comfortable tube to fish from. From what I've read on the boards, it seems like the ODC 420 or the Fish Cat is the choice for most ppl. I am leaning towards the ODC 420 and found they have a ODC 420L version that doesn't have the coating on the bottom. Does the coating make a big difference and is that something I should be getting? I plan on fishing the Bays mostly and maybe the lakes in the future.

Also, I am looking for some fins that are decent but wont break the bank.

Looking forward to the input and suggestions.

David

Forgot to mention...

I live close to MDR and King Harbor...it seems like noone fishes there...any reasons why? Does the dock fishing suck that bad there?

Welcome to the forum.
For tubes, go with a Surper fat cat or Cumberland.

hey welcome! I use a fish cat and it's been awesome to me... I like the coating on the bottom or whatever the fish cat has i fish some questionable areas and motor right over branches and twigs sticking out of the water and have yet to have a problem *knock on wood* as far as fins go I won't be using waders anymore until november/december unless I fish the salt (which I never have done) so I use $20 swim fins from sports authority that work great. good luck! salute
