Roof-racking your toon

So I still havent sold my toon, the offers I had been getting were lowballers (offering <$300 for a 1100+ set up..lol), that just means i have more time to use my toon.
I used to have a minivan that i was able to throw my frame into, and pontoons deflated, but have since gotten rid of the minivan and bought a Honda Passport in excellent condition. I want to keep the interior in tip top shape, so putting the frame inside is not an option.
Are you guys able to put your toons on your roof rack? If so, how do you get it up there by yourself?
My toon is pushing 80lbs, and is really awkward to lift by myself.
How do you guys transport your toons fully assembled?

Edit: I know theres another thread regarding cartopping the toon, but can anyone give me advice or tips on doing it by yourself without putting dents or scratches on the cars body?

unfortunately, having a friend is your best bet for ding prevention.

There are rack systems for dingys to get them on and off your roof by yourself, but then you start spending money.

Maybe you can build your own setup so you can load and unload by yourself.

Do you leave the battery and trolling motor on when you try to get it up on the rack?

80 lbs unloaded should be no problem but if it was me I would only put the frame on the roof rack and the rest in the truck or back set plus I have a big duffle bag to put ever thing in so all the mess is in the bag until I get home to clean everything up

@NulodPBall - Yeah, I was thinking about building some sort of ramp, there was a post on here that gave me an idea, but I just dont have the time to invest into building it. Either that or im lazy..lol

@Mike - no battery or motor @ around 80 lbs. I have a bad back from loading and unloading 90lb ammo cans from the back of a vulcan almost every day for several years.  

@Ed - Im vertically challenged, so its kinda hard by myelf..lol I was hoping to be able to get to the lake fully assembled, but I think putting the frame on the roof will have to suffice until i can find another way..ugh!

1. Loading on top is possible. Just strap down tightly, fully deflated, wrap the bladders around the frame, and hold it down with cargo net and a few ratchet lines.

2. Other than that, the frame should fit behind the trunk of most vehicle, and the bladders can go into the back of the car. Pain in the butt assembling.

3. A cheap $150 trailer from Harbor Freight.

Bad thing about those trailers is the fenders. Most boats will not fit between then but rather on top of them. Hard to tie the boat down and the fenders have cut holes in more than one pontoon.
I do agree a trailer is smooth however. But, just saying you will need to fabricate for a pontoon.

Do you NOT have to license them with a motor there?
