Anyone got an idea how to modifiy the storage area behind the seat on a cumberland to keep it dry? My tackle bag gets pretty heavy when filled up with water.

Thanks and good fishing!

Get a water proof tackle bag? Put your tackle in a water proof bag?
Construct a waterproof "tray" that sets down in the triangular storage area?

Just thinking out loud.

PS I usually don't tote so much stuff that I need to worry about dry storage. If it wont fit in the provided pockets, it probably isn't coming along.

I put a 5 gallon bucket back there to hold my shoes and sweater. It fits pretty nice.

If your tube don't have a kitchen sink, you're not there yet Wink

I use a 3.5 gal bucket with lid from Home Depot, fits nicely and low back there, keep my sweater and other things I don't want to get wet.

Bucket is great. You can also use a air tight vacuum bag at the Dollar stores. If you want something stronger, there are camping water tight bags that fits perfectly behind your V-tube. I have a cross frame going through the back area, and the wheels used to transport my tube as a cart system is used as a back rest. So, I can't use the bucket, so, I use the water tight bag instead, to keep my dry items, dry, with a small cooler for lunch as well. I need to mod a BBQ station so I can cook the fish I catch on the water, while in my tube. Still thinking about that mod. I got my weighing, measuring, and filet station done. Just need to incorporate that cooking, and I'm happy.

there are also some pretty large lockable storage containers available. specifically, I mean the type for kitchen and home.
Usually rectangular in shape, they may fit better back there.
I was thinking earlier, that a 3 gallon bucket would be good.
I seem to be late to that party!
