Dear Board,

Does anyone use a Hummingbird Fishin' Buddy and if so how did you mount it?

Cabelas offers a strap type mount but the reviews say it doesn't hold the FF securely.  Hummingbird also offers a mount for tubes and pontoons but it is 2X the money.

I am debating getting one of the set ups offered and advertised here on the forum for my Garmin 200 but I would need to buy a second mounting base for the Garmin so I can swap it from my hard boat to the float tube.  I really don't need a FF all the time on my tube.  I fish two or three lakes mostly and once I find an area to fish I figure I can find it again w/o needing sonar to get back to it so that is why I am considering getting a Fishin' Buddy for occasional use.

Regards,

Tim Murphy Very Happy

You know with the Float Tube Fanatic FF mount you don't need the mounting base they have a set up that will allow you to just clip in your Garmin. You might need to contact them to double check but it might be a good way for your to use just the Garmin for both boats.

I use a fishing buddy every time I take out my Cumberland, and I am really happy with it. I spent the extra money and got the Humminbird strap mount, it's contoured to fit the fishing buddy perfectly and is very secure and holds the fish finder perfectly.

When I installed the strap mount I took a little air out of the bladder it was on and tightened down the strap, then inflated the bladder fully, the mount does not move at all.

Hope this helps,
Al

The Fishin' Buddy usually comes with a clamp for the side of the boat. I removed the large C-clamp and put a piece of wood on my rod rack and attached the mount to that. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
