Merry Christmas everyone. My wife got me a full wetsuit for Christmas, she wants me to keep warm. I want to take it back for a half wetsuit but not sure if I need one at all. Yes the bay does get cold sometimes and in the lakes I can use my wadders. We are thinking of going to alaska fishing for a few months and the lakes do get cold I understan. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the subject. Also, can you use one rather than using wadders in the lakes that require wadders?

Seen a couple of guys use a full suit tubing, mostly cuz they didn't have waders. Around so cali waders are enough to keep you warm, maybe in Ak. you would need something warmer. Myself, I wouldn't buy a new wet suit just for tubing, look for a used suit on CL for your AK trip.

I just use my waders and when it gets too cold I layer up with thermos under my waders.

I tried it one time. It was very uncomfortable, (lot's of pinching and what not) and my feet got cold really quickly. Also, when I finally got out of them even though it was a fairly cold day, I was pretty wet from sweating inside them. I think breathables are the way to go. As far as the local rules about water contact, I suppose it depends on the lake. You may have to inquire about that.

I personally use my snowboard pants, they're very warm and work perfect...was out last week at NPH and it was 48degrees and they worked champ!

Underarmour top and bottoms with my Simms wader pants keeps my lower half warm, BU t-shirt and my Grundens jacket. Dry and warm all night

We use wetsuits and only put them on halfway, but we only use wetsuits because we dont have waders. We have never tried waders but wetsuits work perfect for us. They keep us warm enough in Dana Point Harbor.
