Solo Session in LAB, Sat 12-1-2018.
(This was my 60th Float Tube session of the 2018 Season).

Session Summary:
The weather started off clear, cold (52 deg) and slightly windy then the wind slowed down to 1-mph and it warm up to 56 deg byt 9:00 AM, It was a constant OG tide, so I kicked against it for a while and then rode it back to my launch, the water conditions were also perfect again ... but the fishing on the other hand was so-so at best (no fish landed the last hour of the session) ... but yet still lots of fun

Location: Los Alamitos (LAB)
Duration: 06:00 hrs until 09:00 hrs (3 hrs)
Sun Rise: 06:39 hrs,
Sun Set: 16:43 hrs, the days are still getting shorter as each new day arrives.
Moon Phase: Waxing Crescent
Gray Light: 05:45 hrs.
Tidal Conditions: 05:05 hrs HT 4.9, 07:00 hrs 4.1 ft, 08:00 hrs 3.3 ft, 09:00 hrs 2.5 ft... etc.
Air temperatures: patchy clouds to clear ans sunny skies with temps from 54 deg to 67 deg.
Water temperatures:  63 deg
Wind: 06:00 hrs 2.5 down to 1 mph NW, 12:00 hrs 6 mph WSW.
Water clarity: translucent green.
Large Leaf Kelp Beds: none to report
Water Visibility: 4-5 ft
Tidal Coefficient: (CE) 61 in the morning, this is an average stable rate.
iSolunar Prediction: Major Period: 08:15 hrs until 09:45 hrs.
(1 out of 4 possible) <"))>< <"))>< <"))>< <"))><
Sea Dogs: None to report
Dolphin: none to report
Pelagic Bird Activity: None to report
Bait Presence: massive schools of 1" to 4" shiners were being chased by the larger fish and the were breaking the water's surface all around us to escape.
Miles Kicked: .43 miles.
Calories Burnt: 341 calories if I had been walking, so I figure approx 400 calories were burnt while kicking for 3-hours.
Tackle Used: 1/4oz Sardine Green/Silver & Mint, 3/8oz Sardine Green/Silver colored HUB's

SP Dan's fish count this morning: 13-fish , 3-species and 1-legal to report today.

(1) Jack Smelt 12"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(2) short Sandy's, best 10 3/4"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(10) Spotty's, best 14 1/2" LEGAL
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Note: All legals shown, but just one pic of each species landed if short and all fish were quickly CPR'd.

And please ... always ... leave it cleaner than you found it!

Thank you for taking the time to check out today's fish report!

13 fish in 3 hours is an excellent session.
52 to 56 degrees outside is cool for SoCal brother.

Thanks for sharing

Hi ya Alakai,

Like I said in my report ... LAB.
From what time to what time were you there and how was the bite for you today?

Will you be attending NPH tomorrow?

The car is loaded and I look forward to tomorrow. My first saltwater float trip will be a party ! Maybe you can put me on the fish better than I did for you.

How did you like the salt Jerdon?
Was is it challenging enough for you?
What did you think about fishing in the current for the first time?
I’d like to hear about your experience!

I enjoyed the adventure for sure.
I learned there are channels of water that move like a river, but once I identified the fastest spots I could move to shallower water where the current was drastically less. There were also areas where the water moved much slower for reasons I could not see and I think once I learned those I could hop from spot to spot with much less effort. I was testing out the Maxxon XPW 239 so I did have oars which helped a lot. I have to say I fatigued myself early by heading right across the canal first thing. I never fully recovered so I got out earlier than I anticipated.

I will try again sometime I am certain.

It was nice just visiting for a bit. I should be out in late January so I will figure something out then to get on the salt water.
