What up fellas? Was bored at work and decided to do some internet recon for harbors to fish in on google maps satellite.

From the looks of the satellite images Redondo Harbor, Cabrillo, and MDR all looks pretty fishable. I haven't seen many or if any postings about these harbors compared to LAB, NPH, and the SD Bay's.

Anyone have any experience in these?

King Harbor (Redondo) is off limits, no FT'n there. Haven't done MDR, but I live 3 mins from Cabrillo and have tubed it a few times. Best is an incoming high tide. I prefer fishing along the rocks, and the lighthouse has some Nice fish by it.

On the other side, there's the concrete piers, never had much luck over there.

If you decide to fish Cabrillo by the rocks, bring lots of baits, as you will lose a few..lol Also, Cabrillo is considered tp be a High contaminated harbor, so eating anything you catch should be considered.

The light house? How long did it take you to kick out there?  Shocked

Problem wasn't getting there, getting back to shore took about 1 hr.+ due to the head wind. We fished along the way out, so it took even longer, but there was no wind. We caught some Nice checkers and spotties, so it was worth the Long kick in..

Thx Hammer 4 for the info....

Lol.... .:LOLLY:. I'm shocked about the light house too. Man that's a ways out there. I use to climb the rocks all the way out to the light house at night to fish when I was in high school. I remember it was so much fun. Caught a good amount of spotties, sandbass, and fat lipped perch on a Carolina Rig with a lizard back then.

I might mention that we did this last year, when I was a young 64 yrs old..lol

Oh, and watch out for the boaters trying to move you off your spot. We had 2 boaters try and drift in on our spot, but we didn't move and threaten to cast into them if they moved any closer. Whats really funny is, we were throwing 3" big hammers, they were using Live bait, yet we out fished them about 4 to 1, which was really cool. Gotta toss tham Hammers right next to the rocks for the good fish.

Marina del rey is ok. The majority of your catches are probably going to be sandbass. I've had a grand slam on the bass there once, but for the most part it's not a special place. It's one of those harbors that are best fished during the incoming tide. If you like big perch there are some monster rubberlips in there.

I lived in Venice beach for a few years and usrd to fish MDR quite a bit. I've done pretty well there. When I first began fishing there it was dead..but as I explored different areas and a lot of ninja spots I found great fishing. My PB sandbass of 6.5 pounds came from there.. it also sports great halibut fishing for those willing to use live baits.. spotties are far and few between. Great yellow fin croaker fishing and huge leapard sharks in there as well. Try the area surrounding the restaraunts in fishermans marina.. and the hidden spots in and around those areas...

I should add that you have shot at getting a super short WSB. They're in the harbor since the tanks are stationed in the main channel of the harbor.
