Hope this is a bit of help to some of you and you guys can score some great deals. I know I talked to some of you about hitting the swapmeets at OCC and Golden West college for fishing and camping gear. But another great spot for finding cheap but high end fishing clothes and who knows what else fishing related are Thrift Stores... try to keep it to Salvation Army and Goodwill as the small independant ones usually don't have anything.
Just as an example last Sunday I picked up a Columbia Omni Gear insulated all weather jacket, a Marmot packable rain jacket and a Port Authority wind breaker from a quick stop at Goodwill all of them in new condition, not a flaw on them. Retail would have been about $175-$200 my cost out the door was $24.
Other things I have found are Caddis FT fins for $5, gear bags for around $2-3, odds and ends for rigging my kayak and float tube in the $1-5 range and most of my fishing pants for $4-6.
I've come across brands from Cabela's, Bass Pro, Land's End, Columbia, North Face, Marmot, West Marine and Carhartt to name a few. Alot of people get company jackets from companies they work for made by top manufacturers, never wear them and just donate them. They work fine as long as you don't mind a company logo on them sometimes.
I believe you get what you pay for in outdoor clothing I just rather spend less so I can buy more tackle! And besides why buy new clothes, any good fisherman is going to just get fish blood, guts and pro-cure all over them... unless your a bad fisherman then you will just get powerbait on them
Can't promise you gold but hope you guys can score some good finds like I have over the years.
