Sorry to inform you folks that two young fishermen lost their lives at El Capitan reservoir in San Diego County.

Jeff Ingram and Eric Mendez were fishing in their recently acquired used boat, when another bass boat came around a blind corner and ran over them.  Both were killed.  The occupants of the other boat were thrown into the water but survived.

Jeff was 21, Eric was 20.  This happened on Thursday, July 31.

The San Diego fishing community is grieving.

My condolences to the families of the young men. Water safety should be #1 when enjoying water activities. I have been debating flying a orange flag like they use for bicycles. Sad day.......

Awe man that's so sad. Prayers indeed. And a couple bucks to be sent to the fund as well. Be careful dudes. I have personally pushed myself off of boats before. Too many people here in California I recon. Too many people thinking only for themselves. Fishn kinda sucks too.

yup saw that , in fact myself and Jerdon where talking about it yesterday while on the water .. you just never know whats around the corner or coming at you . being in a tube makes us more at risk , since where a lot smaller on the water . Be safe out there guys  ..

As it turns out nobody was arrested, At least that is what was last reported. There was a lot of misinformation out there at first.

indeed no one was arrested yet , they where detained and sent for treatment .. right now it appears like it was an accident and only the 2 guys of the bass boat will know what really happened . I know after i first saw the pictures 4 days ago , i was like it appears that both boats where in operation when the incident happened and not anchored like was first reported .
