I was getting ready for our 2015 contest and wanted to mount my camera. I saw one of these little plastic tripods for 12 bucks and bought it. It didn't really work out for the contest, but got me started. I tried wrapping the legs around my rod racks, however I just couldn't get the camera back far enough for a decent pic and I kept bumping it out of position.

Now I attach it by dropping in the abs racks I had. I just bunch the legs all together and push it into the pipe.

As you can see I lash everything down that I can.

It is out of the way, easily reachable and will work with any camera. Gets me pics like this.

BigFish addressed this in an earlier post and I wanted to share more detail. Trial and error my friends. I think I will be looking for a waterproof camera with a wider angle lens in the future.

Looks like a nice LMB pic to me Jerdon.........Their is a post showing that same material in a single length that someone posted awhile back. I bet you could remove two legs and attach all for greater maneuverability. Just a thought. Tight Lines my friend.........GT

How about more details on the rod/gear holder? Looks simple, easy, and cheap to make.

atavuss,

Here are some posts I did earlier. Sort of a chronological development. If you are looking to build your own like I did I would highly recommend checking some posts from .:Lolly:.

Hey jerdon, that's a nice bass! That's a great idea using the little mini pod like that. Sometimes the simple lighter solution is best. Especially if you need to pack your tube in some place. In those instances I can't take all of my equipment.

Heck I have two mini pods similar to yours and didn't even think of using them! Great idea. This one definitely goes in my bag of tricks.

BigFish, GT,
I posted up that same fish in another post, it was the best pic I had with this setup..
I'm thinking I need a camera with a wider angle lenses to fit more in the pics.
Any suggestions would be appreciated boys.

If you're looking for a good price on a waterproof cam I would say look at this one. It comes with a lot. More importantly it comes with a remote. The pics I took in the tournament report were taken with this cam.

It obviously doesn't have a lot of the features that more expensive action cams do. But I think it's a nice cam. It is easy to use and mount. The remote gives you lots of angle options.

There are some really amazing cameras out there today. Anyone looking to equip a action HD camera should seriously consider some of the knockoffs.

The Astak continues to impress me. I have quite an arsenal of cameras, including some Gopros. The Astak still remains in the lineup! At $40 it's quite a deal.

I'm glad you enjoy the camera, I know I still do!

Litefoot, a couple of years ago I started attempting some camera work while Float Tubing. HA! Videography has always been a hobby of mine. But I discovered that camera work while fishing in a Float Tube is quite a challenge.

Capturing footage from a Float Tube requires a set of camera skills very particular to the sport. I have been developing mounts and angle perspective methodology for quit awhile now. If you have any questions I'll be happy to help as best I can.

Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with the FTFF as well. I have joined other sites in the past. The behavior on every other site I tried is sad and pathetic.

We're glad you're here!
