Hey all,

For those of you who use fish finders, do you find that it makes a difference mounting to your left or right? Particularly if you're right-handed, do you have a preference on which side? I'm currently working on a ABS rod/utility holder rig and trying to figure out the best place to mount my fish finder (Garmin Striker Plus 4cv). So far I've only completed the left side holder so that's all I have to work with. Guess I should just build out the right side holders and see how it would feel mounted on the right. I do like the idea of having it mounted on the left because if I'm right-handed, I think my tendency is to look more to the right when I fish.
Anyway, just wondering if there is a good rule of thumb for placement as well as what you guys typically prefer.

Like you I am right handed and had my fish finder on the right side initially. I kept hitting it while casting. So I moved it to the left side and am happy with it there.

Yah I agree, I would actually want to mount it on the left and away from a rod. I sometimes hit it when I was casting on my right which happens far more often then casting from the left. I barely ever, if ever touched it when I was floating. Just to turn it on and off but maybe you will use it for waypoints and stuff that my finder does not do.

Thanks - that was my gut feeling. I'll give it a go. And perhaps will move the fish-finder to the middle position instead of keeping it in the front. The transducer I plan on mounting on my left and behind me as well.
