The morning started out nice with a gentle breeze but progressively got worse with strong gusts. I managed a good few nice drifts with my back into the wind and a slow kick to allow me to cover water more efficiently and was rewarded with 3 pike as well as a couple lost and a few follows to the tube.

Can you all tell I'm a pike nut Red Smile

I might have to go trout fishing in a couple of weeks just to break the pike up

Great report and fantastic pics again.
Those pike look like they pull pretty good on the flyrod.
Thanks for sharing.

Once a Pike gets to the surface of the water ... does it get explosive like our Halibut do?
The Pike look to be an extremely strong predator fish capable of heavy power runs.

Our California Halibut is also very strong and will usually go into an explosive crazy ape-sheet mode once they realize that they are at or near the surface. lol
Can you share (express) with us the fight that this fish can dish out ... I'm trying to imagine.

I lived in Oregon for thirteen years along the Rogue River. I fished almost every day along the river for either trout, steel-head or salmon; depending on the season of course. lol
I only heard about the giant Pike that were found only well north of me. Someday I said!

My ol' buddy lives up in Montana; up from here in SoCal, and he keeps inviting me up for some Muskie and Pike action. After seeing your pic's, I'll be speaking to my friend a lil' more about selecting the best months to head up that way and try my hand at such a good fortune. Her comes my someday!

Your reports have me all pumped up and looking forward to my visit to Montana.

Thanx for the excellent fish report with pic's!
