So I received in the mail a new toy today the FishTrax 1C Fishfinder from Hawkeye, my job to review it. Well, the box is open and the reviewing can start.
First, it seems very simple as far as a fish finder goes, it is lightweight and small (5" x 2 1/2" in size. So as you can see the screen is very small, this might be an issue for some. I am open-minded and am looking forward to putting it on the water soon. The float tube mounting system is nothing new other then it has some leather on the underside to allow it to set better and not damage the outside of the tube over time. It also comes with a float to give you the ability to float transducer on the water rather than under the tube is you prefer.
The idea of the float is that the transducer has a built-in thermometer and if you would like you can lower the transducer in the water to measure temps and different depths. That is new and I can see how it could be useful, I will be sure to test this when I can. The fish finder itself runs off of 4 AA's this could be a drawback but we will see how long the batteries will last under normal use. This little fish finder is a color display so this will be another nice addition and we will see if that makes any difference in the long run. This all just from opening the box I hope to do some more beeper reviews soon for now I have a new toy.
