So last night, I installed the pee valve into the Waders... needed sea trials to be sure everything was dry and plumbed correctly.
Alarm goes off at 4:00... I'm not fishing with SPDan this morning, so I said, "Hell No" and went back to sleep. Woke up at 5:30, hustled and was in the water around 5:50.
Kicked out at the beach by the L.A. Yacht Club... the tide was super low... lots of beach. Within 30 seconds I had my first fish on. Over the next 90 minutes, I landed another 12.
A teeny scorpion fish, not much longer than my 1/4 Oz HUB inhaled my bait... getting it out was a challenge - and I got stuck good. Damn think stung, and drew blood... ugh.
Caught 5 Legals - all spotties. Some toads came in... Several larger fish today in the swirling eddies.
I didn't kick more than 3 minutes from the launch. There were fish everywhere along and in front of the walls. The bait was so thick it was boiling all around me - I could feel it bouncing off my legs. I could see it in the water, birds were diving into it and I could even see the bass beneath it, pushing it up. My rule is I don't leave fish to find fish. So I hung out.
I just wanted to get out for a quickie to check the valve. All good. This Sunday with SPDan will be a proper session.
Really surprised at the quality and the pull of the fish today. Last time I was here it was a parade of dinks. This time, fun. That big spotty was great... want to do that again soon.
Some video and shots below - watch of you're having trouble sleeping, or if the paint you've been watching dry, has dried.
Enjoy.
