Thursday 9-13-2018

I did a solo Recon session today as the tide rolled in.

Today I fished an entirely different way; than I have in the past, and I learned quite a few very interesting facts about LAB by doing so. Good stuff!

I do like to start each session by taking a moment for calming thoughts and to consciously remind myself of how truly BLESSED I am to be here today!

Gray light: 0600 hrs
Miles Kicked On FT: 0.46 miles
Calories Burnt: Approx 510 if we had been walking so I'm going to guess approx 600+ calories burnt today.
Swell: SSE
Air Temp: 64 deg to 76 deg, cloudy mild sky's w/ a marine layer that burnt off by 0800 hrs.
Water Temp: 68-70 deg
Session Duration: 0600 hrs until 1100 hrs (5 hrs).
Sun Rise: 0634 Hrs, Sun Set: 1901 hrs.
Wind: 0600 hrs 2-mph SW, 1200 hrs 6-mph WSW.
CE: 82 in the morning, a higher average
Bait Presence: massive amounts of 1-3" shiner bait in the water everywhere.
Sea Dog Presence: 2 pups to report
Sea Bird Presence: minimal, just a few diving birds
Dolphin Presence: none to report.
Surf: 2-3 ft, Swell: 1.7 ft, Sec's Between Sets: 18
Large Leaf Kelp Beds: none to report
Tidal Conditions: 0606 hrs LT 0.80 ft, 0700 hrs 1.3 ft, 0800 hrs 2.0 ft, 0900 hrs 2.9 ft, 1000 3.5 ft, 1100 hrs 4.6 ft, 1224 hrs HT 5.1 ft ... etc.
Isolunar: Minor period from 0535 hrs until 0705 hrs.  <"))>< <"))>< <"))><
Note:  The bite actually occurred between 0600 hrs and 0830 hrs (21 fish were landed inside a 2.5 hr window) and then the remaining fish really needed to be hunted-down for the next 2.5 hours (very slow pickings!).
Bait used: 3/8 oz Sardine Green Silver, 1/4 oz Sardine Green Silver colored HUB's with Bio-Edge scent along with Hot Sauce, and a Drop Shot rig.

Equipment used:
My (3) three rods selected: were my  B"n"M SharpShooter's, rated 4#-8#, 6', 1-pc.

My (3) reels selected: were (2) two of my Shimano Stradic Ci4 2500 reels and (1) one Diawa Balistic 2500 reel, all spooled with Diawa Samurai #30 braid (8 carrier) line w/ a 5 ft long 12 lb Seaguar InvizX Fluorocarbon leader while using the RP knot to connect (tie) the fluorocarbon and braid together and the Improved Cinch knot for tying-on the bait.

SP Dan's Fish Count: 26 fish total, 4-different species and 1 legal Bass while fishing on
"SS Stitch":

(19) Spotty's, the best was a 14 1/4" legal
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(5) short Sandy's, best was 12"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(1) short Halibut 12 1/2"
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

(1) Sculpin 7 1/2"
(Scorpion fish)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Note: I only post one of each species unless there are multi legals, PB's or NS (new species).
PS ... I am a sportsman dedicated to being a 100% CPR (catch, photograph and release) angler.
Also,  I only show photo's of the fish and not of myself because it's really all about the fish?!  Thumbs Up

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to view my posting!
