This is my 1st season using a float tube. I love to flip cover for bass but everytime I do i get turned 180 degrees from the cover. Currently I use a 2.5lb barbell as an anchor, but still get turned around.

Any suggestions would be greatly apptciated.

Is there a current or is there windy conditions? Using the anchor and fighting the wind has given me problems of where to tie on my anchor in order to get positioned correctly. Personally, I have found that using the anchor to fight wind is a losing proposition. Wind knots, backlash and line handling is more of a problem for me. Current I have not had to deal with an anchor.

Ya I am with Jerdon is this a wind or current issue. I deal with current in the harbors and it also can be very tough depending on the amount of current. Working your fins is what I suggest this takes practice and time on the water to get it right. But if the current or even then the wind is pretty strong even good fin work won't help. I hope some more people chime in on this sounds like a great discussion.

Are you fishing Northwest River, or what?

Fishing cover for LMB's I'm not good at, but I have found when casting baits along the bottom, it will turn the tube in the direction of the rod tip, So I compensate by finning in the opposite direction to balance my retrieve. This keeps my tube facing the direction of my retrieve. If you are using an anchor for wind/current, then you have to tie off according to which direction you want to cast. Most people tie off to one side or the other , causing the tube to turn. Tying off directly behind you would be ideal, but a hassle for most, including myself. Hope this helps you, it's a learning curve. I deal with currents all the time harbor fishing, but I will not fish in winds over 7 MPH.............GT

You just have to plan before flipping. Something you'll get used to in time. You don't cast where you are you cast ahead of time to where you're going to be.
