Hello Everyone -

New member here.

I've had two CC U-Boat 2000's which I've fished hard in over the last 12 years. Despite lots of fishing and carrying them into mountain lakes on an external frame pack; I've never had a leak. However, they're big undoing is that you sit up to your waist in the water. In Montana, this fall - there was no fall - and - in combination with leaky waders - I spent lots of time shivering uncontrollably.

So, I wanted a newer teardrop design tube which keeps more of me out of the water. I almost bought the CC ODC 420 LT, but, went with the CA Cumberland (thought it may be a bit more durable). I've used the new tube 3 times, on Holter Lake.....and I really like it.

However, in the summer, I do lots of dayhikes into mountain lakes with the tube. (Using bungee straps, I carry the Cumberland on my external frame pack.) I notice the Cumberland is about 5 lbs heavier than my U-Boats and am strongly considering an inflatable seat to lighten the load.

I've ran across some posts indicating the Fish Cat 4 and ODC 420 inflatable seats will work.....but, has anyone actually done this? Will one seat bladder fill the 4" area where the Cumberland's foam seat goes or do you need a 2nd bladder?

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to the forum beartooth91,

I've got nothing that would help to answer your question.
I'm sure someone here has tried it.

This subject of inflatable seats has come up several times over the years. Here is links to a few threads that cover the issue. The short answer is yes, there are a few choices.

At one time I owned a Super Fat Cat, and loved the inflatable seat. It has two removable bladders, a seat and a back. I would check with the company, Outcast and see if you could order them. The bladders have long stems that you can inflate with your mouth, no pump needed.
Also check motorcycle accessories for gel pads for seats. They maybe to heavy for what you want............GT
