So as most have read I had the pleasure of doing some reviews on the Caperlan FLTB-5. This float tube from Caperlan can be found though the Decathlon stores for about $249. I did the unboxing video and review but this one is an on the water review.
My son (home from the Navy) was the sucker I mean guy to do the first ride of the FLTB-5. We started off in the morning about 6:30 am and he beat me to the water. The Backpack straps on the back of the seat are still one of the greatest ideas I think anyone has ever come up with.
Once in the water I could see that the tube would be a great tube. For him it sat perfect in the water and moved like a dream. He did mention right away that he was sitting hire out of the water then he originally though he would. This tube has an inflatable seat with a separately inflated seat and back rest.
The tackle bags (or soft side boxes) were not in the way as much as I thought they would be. Like some of the similar tube it has the PVC coated bottom which I think is a good thing to have especially if you fish the saltwater. The apron was a little different then the normal apron with a nice large print ruler and a none mess section, which means less hooks stuck in it.
After the end of our outing I decided to take a quick trip myself in it. While the tube can handle my weigh I will say it felt a little tight for me. But that is mostly because I am use to the bigger hybrid tubes now. It did float me high in the water and I was very impressed with the seat. One of the more comfortable seats I have ever sat in. I think that the Cumberland and the Fat Cats have a new challenger in town and the challenger is the Caperlan FLTB-5 priced to move. if you have any question please don't hesitate to ask.
