LAB 2/12/12 Day of the Hali

Well, I fished the LAB as planned Sunday but unfortunately I was late. Got there around 6:45 and didn't see anyone getting ready. Got to the water a little before 7 and saw a tuber fishing. Met up with Miller and fished for few hours. The day was pretty good for me, except for the fact that I only got one bass. I really can't complain though. Ended the day with 4 Halibut (one being near legal), 3 croaker, one sand bass, one rockfish, and of course a couple lizard fish. Got out of the water around 12:30. All of my fish were caught in the open including the bass. Water was 58 to 59 degrees. Enjoy the pics...

All on artificials?

Yep, all on artificials. Caught them on a few different things; big hammers, jerk shads, and camo worms.

Wtg, looks to be a pretty good day for the LAB.

I've found that you can't go wrong with camo worms if you just need to get a bite

I like to use them because you never know what they are going to catch. they literally work for everything.

I forgot to mention about almost getting run over by a sailboat. Be careful out there and make sure you have a noise maker. My whistle would have come in handy but was so rusty it didn't work. HAHA. Luckily i yelled loud enough that the guy heard me and veered off. He wasn't paying a bit of attention and this could have ended badly for me. Did I mention I love Hotspot fins. I would have been screwed with my old ones. I really would have appreciated an apology from the guy but apparently that was too difficult. Some people do just SUCK.

Na, it was a good day of fishing. I was fishing two poles just drifting the crack along. By the way I dropshot them.

Nice fish. I seriously must be doing a LOT wrong because the last time out at the LAB all I got was 1 lizard fish.

Keep at it, it takes a few trips to figure out the LAB. Of course it helps to fish it with people that already know it.

Bodfish, I'll post a pic when I get home. Really though, they really are the most comfortable fin I've ever tried. The thrust is better than most and they are comfortable all day long.

I have Hot Spot fins also
I'm just a rookie to tubing but I'd say those fins have good propulsion under light kicking but when you need more thrust, they really dig in for as much strength as MY legs have.
They look very similar to these "Rocket Fins" and they claim that the hot spots float
From the sound from the Force fin owners, there is no upgrading from there.

Here are a pic of my hot spots. I dont like the added weight of wearing boots while tubing so force fins are out for me.

Hey Itchybass, it was cool meeting you on Sunday. That is 1 nice Hali you had there.
So question, where do get those find from. I have been thinking its time to up grade mine

I got mine from someone on another forum. I have no clue where you can get a new pair. Sorry.

I have hotspots and force fins, hard to explain why but I prefer the hotspots for salt and the force fins for fresh. But they both work well and have their little pros and cons over eachother. You can get the hotspots at Turner's Outdoors I believe.

Cool I'll check them out and check out the dive shop by my office and see whats new there
