Felt better yesterday and decided to get the tube out and hit Corona Lake. It was a beautiful day on the water calm with light breezes in the afternoon. I get on the water and kick half way out and realize that I had forgotten my basket. Kick back to shore and head out again. I get to the spot that I want to fish and rig up a white Lip Ripperz worm on the DS and a couple of casts and I am on a pretty good fish. The first time that he breaks the water I know that he is going to be a keeper. It takes me about ten minutes to land and now I have to try and stuff this bad boy into the basket.

The fishing has been and still is very tough at Corona, I saw one of the guys who fishes there regularly and knows all the spots and tactics and he has been having a hard time out there the past month.

At first I thought the smaller one was a dink, then I saw the numbers. Nice fish.

Thanks it is my PB so far for a trout. Yep the 8lber makes the 3lber look like a DFG dink. It is a blast to catch a big one on the tube and see it for the first time at water level and pucker up trying not to lose it.

BPS Micro Lite glass pole. Works for me catching trout, pan fish and even caught bass with it. One day maybe get a Loomis, don't have the money now.
I'll try to make the gathering.

A woman goes into Bass Pro Shop to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. A Bass Pro Shop associate is standing there wearing dark shades. She says, ''Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?'' He says, ''Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tel...l you everything from the sound it makes.'' She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says, ''That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. test line. It's a good all around combination and it's on sale this week for only $20.00." She says, ''It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!'' As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor.''Oh, that sounds like a Master Card,'' he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally farts. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was she who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around. The man rings up the sale and says, ''That'll be $34.50 please.''The woman is totally confused by this and asks, ''Didn't you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?'' He replies, ''Yes, Ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00 and the Bear Repellent is $3.50"

Kelster, what is the problem with this lake? I see video after video of them dropping fish in the lake but the reports are always bad. I'm guessing its a bunch of BS and the fish are not being stocked as they make out.

When your on the lake do you see a lot of dead fish? It just doesn't seem right.

Nice fish, how did it taste?

I believe that they are stocking but stocking SARL a little bit more then Corona. Not seeing dead fish but a lot of fish shallow and finning a couple of weeks ago. Oxygen levels seem off and the lake looked like it had turned over. Water is not coming in and spilling out like last year so the fish are spread out and you have to work hard to find them. There is no definite pattern that anyone can find and there are some better sticks then me having problems catching fish. There are more tubers on the water and the pontoon boats are crowding into some of the areas that have been productive, 3-4 pontoons with 4-5 people equals a lot of lines in the water and I have seen a couple of pontoons with more then (2) poles per fishermen. I can't wait until the pan fish bite at Lake Perris to get out and fish w/o being crowded.

What time of the year do the panfish get going at Perris?

The redears have started up already. Other panfish will be running at high gear as the water warm up to roughly around 65°F. Be on the look out for water temp report. When the water hits 69°F, the party is at full swing. That should be in the early to mid of spring. If we're lucky, it will start up in late of March if this temp trend continues.
