New Bay Fishermen.

Not sure if this has been covered in the past, so I'll throw it out there.

At some point you may hook up with a baby Octopus, they are stealthy little hunters. Usually they just grab your bait with their tenticals (sp)and normally don't get hooked. All you need to do is Gently grab them and pull your bait away from them, then release them, as they usually take up residence in an old shell, or something they can hide in.

These little guys don't hurt anything, so please let em gently. Sea slugs on the other hand..YYYUUUKK!!!

that is something i have yet to catch. I have had afew of them in my hoop nets but thats about it

Got 1 at the Naples side docks, it was right next to a pylon, jigging a creature bait, the other 2 were at the wall, over by the Navy yacht club. One of them was in a abalone shell.

I never caught one either.

I have had 2 at HB on PCH side. First time I did not know what was going on. Felt like a hit/snag and then I couldn't free my line. I was impatient so I just pulled and wham! It came flyin out of the water spread eagle right for my face!! He landed on one of my poles and crept down and back into the drink. I got a pic somewhere. Funny as heck!

LOL...I had one grab my leg while I was launching at HH last year. It was a b*tch to get it to let go but once it did I let it go.

Well I did a search for the pic and I think I might have deleted it.

You guys are lucky to catch them. When free diving we would hunt for them all the time as they are good fresh cooked for 1 min on the hibachi. Hard to find easy to catch and good eating!
