Hey that is good information!! Thanks for saving me and who knows
how many others from making the mistake of buying a clone BFT-1.
That is exactly why these type forums are invaluable to us all.
Thanks again. BTW Fed-Ex says my ODC-420 is on the truck and out
for delivery today!! Whoo Whee!! Can't wait. I probably won't get
it on the water but I'll finally be able to finish and glue my
gear/rod holder rack/tray (with a little luck). I'll hopefully be able
to send some detailed pics of the completed work and some video of
me fishing in the next few days!! I am EXCITED...kinna like Xmas
as a kid!!

Glad I could help!
I am surprised to see that the Amazon model is better than the cabela's model though....

Thanks again MONKEE !!

Amazon is an outlet only for other peoples product. If you noticed your mount has Hummingbird logo on the side which is the same folks who made the Fishing Buddy. Go figger as to why it fits. I went and got the pvc 3in. to 2in. reducer many are using and although not a perfect fit is far better than what I had. That plus a 12 in. piece of pcv tube attached to the reducer adaptor improved the fit by 75/80 %. the 2 in. piece fit very sugly into the Cabelas adaptor after I removed the nylon liner in the tube. I will use foam to shore up the slack in the wand tube and stick on weather strip in the cradle and should work well for now.

If you think harder there must be harder way LOL !

Goin Crappie fishin tomorrow, will let you know how that works out !

Hey Guys !

Check out FishinPhils' last post under the thread pimped my float tube. Nice use of the factory mount for the Fishing Buddy. Will be pretty much what I will do unless my OCD kicks in and I can figger an improvement on his design.

Here's where I got the details of my PVC build:

"Sapydawg" as I like to call him aka Aaron is a really good guy and a lot of people owe him a lot of thanks for taking the time to document every step of the way along with pics.

Got the wand wiggle figgerd out when the Fishing Buddy is inserted in either the Hummingbird BFT-1 strap on mount or the home rigged pvc setup with the 3in. to 2in. reducer flange and the added 2in. drop tube. I cut a piece of the foam waterpipe insulation which is like the foam pool noodles about 4in. long and wrapped it around the very top of the wand. When I pushed it down into the 2in. pvc tube it gripped the wand firmly but allows turning of the unit and holds it nicely where you want it. This foam tube wrap is available at most all hardware stores where winter temps tend to freeze.

Awesome..I was hoping someone would get this worked out. I'm going to be ordering FB120 and the BFT-1 next week if I can swing it. Thanks for posting your "work around"
