ok we dont need sharks at the gathering or seals or turtles i think when me and tom went out at the LAB i got bumped by a turtle at first i thought it was a wave but there were was no second ripple Shocked

Ok boys we are close to the big day there are going to be quite a few of us out there. I wanted to go over the rules of our friendly competition so here they are.

The competition:
The man with the biggest Spotted Bay Bass wins, it could be you.

The competition rules:
1. Must be a member of the forum on the day of the gathering.
2. Must be 13” fish to weigh (need picture of measurement and weight of Fish).
3. Must have digital camera and digital scale or fish near someone that will share.
4. Must use only artificial lures, no bait allowed.

In the event there is a tie in weight it will go to the second legal fish caught and so on till we figure out how is the winner.

The area we are launching at is nowhere near the area I would like to fish. It's a long kick to say the least. what we should do Is have someone with a truck park farther towards the mouth of the bay as a ride back for those who want to fish in that area??? also I will be fishing Dana Point harbor on Saturday if anyone would like to join me in some Halibut chasing...

I think the point of this area picked is because there is a group of guys that have never tubed in the salt before. A couple have only tubed the fresh once or twice. The area is fair game for everyone fishing. May not be the area an experienced angler like yourself would "like" to fish, but this is a gathering for a group. A fun and fair get-together for everyone. If you fished by the mouth of NPH then meet up with the rest of the group is up to you and Jeff the director here. I personally don't see this as a hardcore tournament where there's a need to fish a favorite spot. We are all in tubes and this is what makes this so challenging. We all are in the same round about area and have to be back by a set time. I know the productive areas closer to the mouth of NPH as well. However, we with Jeff chose this area because it will keep the newer tubers out of boat traffic. Just my 2 cents. Up to Jeff here.

I would like to try and keep us all together, I agree might be good for the newer guys. More than that I think it is a good chance for us all to get to no each other better. I would like to see everyone launching from the same spot.

I'm pretty new to the salt and would like to launch with a big group. Just feel safer that way, and we can shoot the **** in the down time.

Since we are only allowed to use plastics and artificials that means there will be no Chumming unless you are willing to pay over $20 for a GULP chum bucket!

I see we are doing 18th street again so two things remember to bring quarters to feed the meter I'd say atleast $5.00 worth and when parking do not back into your parking spot it will cost you about $24 to the broke city of Newport.

We are actually going to meet at the Pavillion's Parking lot, and are going to launch out of Lido Island. Free parking and they say plenty of parking, there is another map on this thread showing were we will be meeting at 6am.
