NPH 8-10-2013 (pics)

I hit Newport harbor yesterday in the tube thanks to a late night Friday night i got a much later start then i wanted to.

after about an hour and half of trying to find a halibut and only anther hour and a half  before i had to leave for Irvine lake for the catfish co-op4 i decided it was time to give the spotties some attention

all fish were caught on Fool's Bait Co Hawg Seekers in the Jack-O-Lanter and Female Ghost Shrimp colors

first fish of the the day was a 14" hard fighter

the next one was a little on the smaller sized but very scrappy

then the size got better again this one was 10"

and then the last fish of the day before turning in to load up was also on the smaller size but one of those fish where you look at a spot and you say to your self there should be a fish there and what do you know there was one. Lol so i guess you can say this fish has read the book also

Not to shabby, good job on the catches bud

what size lead heads were you throwing? Those hawg seekers have a much skinnier profile than what I normally throw I want to give this pattern a try. Nice bag also

the heads in that pic are 3/8 i usualy use a 1/4 but for some reason on that day it dint feel like the wight was getting down right when i was kicking around bottom bouncing for the butts so i put on the 3/8 and i was running out of leader to tie to on my rig and dint bring any extra mono out with me so i dint want to lose leader length by tieing on the smaller jig head

thanks man and thats a nice looking red ear in your avatar....... is it bad that i know just by that small avatar pic that was taken on the west shore of irvine lake and due to the water line it looks like it was taken this year and if im right i caught a 2lb red ear in the same area

You are right on the money. Caught this red ear on the west shore on opening weekend last November.

yea i caught a few big red ear and gills on the drop shot looking for trout last seasone. they hit so hard for there size.
