We got down to Dana Point around 7 am weather was looking nice. total brain fart on my part DIDNT CHECK THE TIDE We fished the slack into the least amount of water movement I had fished yet.
High tide 7:52 am 4 ft
Low tide 12:40 pm 3ft
It was a poor choice I was junk fishing the whole day. I caught this guy in the first half hour on the DS stick with a pumpkin colored Slugo, fishing the back of the boats in the channel 13-15 ft deep Which was my only one and lost in the fight

we continue making our way towards the bait barge. When I get broken off, just off the bow of the San Mateo. I quick re-tie and drifted my DS fluke over the same spot. Boom! Full Bendo followed by ZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG about 4 or 5 times. Those shakes were unmistakable it was a doormat! And then the unthinkable the line go's slack
We stuck around for a few more attempts then headed for the harbor outlet to fish the rocks. Turned and headed back to the bait barge after we made it to the west end of the harbor. I had my DS pole in my holder and was throwing the hammer. When I notice I start to turn in my tube because the DS stick is bendo. Short Hali

We proceded to make our way back to the launce area and fished the slips and grass and rocks...... and I finally get picked up again when I tied the Sea wolf back on. One of the strangist hookups, I thought I was getting caught on the piling no head shakes the when I got it up there was a spottie, then no movement for the pick and unhooking. But as soon as i put it back it went into tornado mode and soaked up both.

Lots of time between bites, as few as there were. I think it was just poor timing on my part. I will be paying more attemtion next time.
