Some guy at Dicks told me that I would want to throw this thing across the yard at first, I had no idea how right he would be Evil or Very Mad

I Know How You Feel I Hate Them too But I Have Been Practising And I Hate To Admite I Am start To Cast A lil Better So Hang In There Buddy

Count to ten. Relax, Then do this. There is a knob on the handle side of the reel. Tie on what ever bait u want then hold the rod at a 45 degree angle up. Now while holding the spool with ur thumb, push the cast botton down. Ok so now the spool is disengaed but u still have a hold of the spool, so the bait is still not moving. Now let of on the spool lightly (still holding the rod at a 45.). If the bait fall free, stop the spool with ur thumb before it hit the ground!!!!!! Now turn the handle to engage the spool again.

OK relax, what u want to do is tight the knob on the hadle side till the bait will not fall by itself. Make it tight enough so that u have to reallllly shake the rod for the bait too fall a foot or so. Now turn the breaks on the other side ALL the way on. Mag or Centrifigal no matter, just all the way on!.
Now try casting it with a smooth underhand stroke. Like swinging a golf club but a little higher. U want to have contact with the spool and thumb ALL the time, when u are starting out. NEVER leg go of the spool completely!!!
U wana develop a "feel" for the spool and visually get a feeling for it. ALWAYS stop it with ur finger BEFORE is hits the ground.

As u get comfortable u can turn down the weights and loosen the spool tension knob.

Take it slow u'll get it.
