5.1 in my house

As you now this quake happened in La Habra were i live, but i was on the water in HH. What a wierd feeling that was our house is ok just broken pictures and glasses. I will be cleaning through the night hope everyone else is ok.

My sisters's house in Fullerton has crack wall and stuff falling down but everyone is safe. Hope everyone is safe.

Been feeling aftershocks all nite.

Glad to hear you guys rode it out. I do NOT miss those one bit. Northridge was the one that got me freaked out, there were aftershocks for a couple of weeks if I remember right.

Glad everything came out alright Jeff , let me ask you this before the Quake since you where on the water , did you see any signs from the wild life , birds , fish jumping on the tube , sea dogs trying to cuddle with you ?

I know That before I felt it down here in Moreno Valley , I was watching my saltwater tank and the fish started doing like circles in the tank , I was like hmm earth quake must be coming and yup few seconds later there it was

I didn't feel it in Moreno Valley but others did. Glad everyone here is OK, my mom lives in Fullerton near Beach and Rosecrans, cracks in the walls inside and stucco outside, lots of pics fell off the walls and some broke, no window broke tho.

Glad there wasn't too much damage.
We moved into this house 5 years and we were loving the fact that we hadn't felt an earthquake since.
Until last night, at least now we know if you can feel it in this house, it's a big one.
I was on the living room floor rigging a laptop into the entertainment system so we could watch a movie. Everything started shaking. We figure, meh, whatever but then it kept shaking, it felt like the house was going to bounce off the concrete blocks it sits on. Then it started rolling back and forth.
At around the ten second mark it was an oh S**t moment and the wife and I bolted for the kids room. We each grabbed a kid and ran back the living room.

I picked the living room because it's a new roof, I mean all new not just shingles so it has new trusses that should be built to higher standard than the rest of the house.
Biggest risk of damage for us was me trying to get off the floor and into the kids room in 5 seconds without throwing my back out!

glad I didn't feel it out here in Oxnard.. I am the biggest wuss when it come to these. did feel the one we had like a week or so ago. but just a small wave like motion.. Glad to hear all are okay   

5.1 in CA, that's just a rattler.
I was born and raised in Oxnard (ages ago), and I recall some bigguns in years passed.

Weird, though, we had one here in SC about a month ago. It was 4.1R, and epicentered about 25 miles from my house.
Everyone in my family was like,

"What was that??"

"Earthquake," I said.

"Whaaaaaat??!!" And the shrieking began. It went on far days.


But I'm glad none of you were hurt.

I was outside on the balcony smoking a cig, my gf was in the bathroom taking a bath when the earthquake happened. I was torn between going back inside to help her get dressed in case it got really bad or running downstairs to get to an open area. Guess which option I chose? lol...

Between the earthquakes in socal the past couple of weeks and the 8.0+ in Chile, makes you wonder if theres going to be something catastrophic soon.

Anyone who has lived in earthquake zones has heard that the more smaller quakes you have, the better.

Supposedly, the small tremors bleed off pressure that, if left to build up, would cause a whopper.

Just about the time you start believing this is when a big one comes.

Most honest thing I've heard the experts say is: We don't know.

It's funny, I was at pierpoint landing waiting to board the toronado. I was talking on the phone with my gf and then all of a sudden she's like " ITS AN EARTHQUAKE! ". I'm like "you're crazy". Sure enough 10 seconds later all the jigs start rockin on the wall =) Havent felt one in years. Good old memories.

I was sitting on the water in Huntington Harbor by myself when the earthquake hit. I could feel the water pulsating under me (up and down faster and faster). I was think what the hell when I started to hear the creaking from the homes around me then I know. The strangest part was I when I looked up in the sky I saw hundreds of seagulls flying away from the beach that was my Que to get the hell out of dodge.

Hmmm. I've always wondered how it'll feel on a boat or in a tube. Now I know. Glad nobody got hurt and the rods are all good in the hood.
