Thanks Hedgemon! Those prices are not to bad at all!
I will have to show the lady, but just the thought of never having to shovel

you can even get a house in the low 100k. if you want a house in Orange County, the starting prices are around 350k. its all about location location and location.

It's -23 here without the wind chill which adds takes another 10 degrees off!
So somewhere in the range of -30C

Does it have to be a "house" with a yard and lots of land or are you open to condo's or townhomes? I bought a townhome (no yard), but small patio downstairs and it was a lot less than a house the same size. Living space is almost 1800' with 2 car garage. The difference is it's 2 stories so you do have to walk up stairs to get to the bedrooms. A house in my area with that same amount of living space starts at $800k. A condo will run you around $500k, but you do have to pay a couple hundred for HOA dues.

Here is one right around the corner from me for $600k

Ya we don't need a huge place as it is just me and the lady.
And being close to anywhere I can drop a line would be awesome!

Before you check house prices I would check the job market because jobs out here in the US are slim pickings if any, atleast in California it's pretty bad. Getting a house isn't hard with the forclosures galore going on.

Most of the work I do would still be out of Canada but can be done from either home or making day flights back and forth from there to here.
I heard that there is a bad job crisis going on down there and that house foreclosures are getting bad.
Just heard on the news this morning that Obama turned down that new pipeline that was supposed to built too.
that would have been nice for the U.S economy and for the job market there and even here.
I have a few buddies who are out on our end of that pipeline that were not to happy this morning.
