Needed to make two baitcaster/spinning rod holders for my Wife's new Fish Cat 4.
She just carries two rods only, so just needed a rod holder on each side.
Fish Cat has only a very small area to wrap a strap around with tackle bags sewn on and clearance needed for apron post.
I have made these in past and they work and hold up great.
USED
1 1/2 inch PVC
1 X 1/8 inch aluminum bar
pop rivets and gun
1 inch webbing for straps
snaps for straps
Goop adhesive
Cut two 12 inch pieces of PVC.
Cut two 9 inch pieces of aluminum.
Drilled 1/8 inch holes in brackets as shown.
Rounded corners and sanded smooth.

Taped brackets to PVC where I wanted.
Used the 3 middle holes of brackets as guides to drill corresponding 3 holes in to PVC. Using bracket holes as guides insured dead on alignment with PVC holes.

Attaching bracket to PVC.
I used 1/8 x 1/4 inch aluminum pop rivets.
For me these worked best, as riveting to soft plastic can have some issues.
The next two pics are a test piece/example.
Rivet does expand enough to get good bite.
Rivet does stick out some so I put a big drop of epoxy on each rivet to create a smooth bump so rod handles do not catch or hang up.
Could not pull this test piece apart.

Brackets pop riveted to PVC and bent

Measured and cut webbing for straps. Had Wife sew on 1/2 of snap on each strap (very clean!).
Figured where I wanted straps and glued straps to brackets.
Let dry over night.
In first pic of brackets you will see two holes drilled into each end.
After glue dried I took a heated nail and melted holes thru webbing using holes in bracket as guides.
I than ran a small zip ties through. This adds extra strength to keep glued strap from ever pulling away from bracket.
