I went to a small high Sierra lake Friday and since the weather was just about perfect in the morning with no wind I was able to figure out how to move around in my Super Fat Cat using Force Fins. At the end of my day there I pulled up to the shore and trying to get out of the SFC and making a few steps while still in the water wearing the FF's I tripped and did a perfect face plant in about 5" of water. My fly rod went flying and I got out as quickly as I could while making sure no one was around to witness the belly flop I did.
Does everyone put on and take off their fins while seated in their tube?

I take mine off before I try to walk.
I have had similar experiences with wind being the biggest problem.

Lessons I've learned...
1) Learn to high step when walking with fins, they always find a way to get caught on something...
2) Walking backwards is easier
3) Do not take off your fins in water deeper than you'd like to go just in case you have to recover them.
4) Make sure your tube is secured when you are removing your fins. Wind/waves can and will pull/push it back into the water when you are busy recovering from an almost face plant/removing fins..

Ha ha ...... Sorry I did not mean to laugh but I most always take my fins off before I get out of my tube in shallow water. I have not face planted yet but have had my share of fumbles that took every ounce of energy I could muster to avoid certain disaster. I am sure there could be a club started bases off of your mishap sir you are not alown I am sure of it.

My maiden voyage taught me that I should put on and take off my fins while safely seated in my tube...almost ate sand in NPH
