I got the look of doom from my wife knock them dead...but if we have enough people interested, we might be able to get a private charter out this year...anyone wanna look into it?

I'd like to get out on a boat with you guys so keep me posted. August 6 is just a tough one for me.

Im down too! Charter it up...september time frame that way everyone has time....

for sure Kin and Waxon, once this one is out of the way, we can probably start looking at what landing and times will work for everyone....

I love DP for fishing the salt............that being said, I have chartered 3 boats out of DP. Looking at the schedule for DP, most boats have been chartered out for this month due to the great fishing. Hope someone else will chime in on this subject, because its a lot of work to get enough guys together and secondly what do you want to PAY per person. Naturally the more that go the less you pay per person.

Example, $1800 for the charter, 10 pips-$180 per person

15 pips- $120 per person

With DP, who ever takes on charter responsibility has to pony up the $1800 on a Credit Card as a deposit. Then you have to collect the $$$ from all or you are stuck with the balance.

Hopefully someone else has some experience with chartering a boat from other landings, NP, LB, LA, SP

Oh, this DOES NOT include food and drinks, nor does it include fish cleaning...............GT

Ya that would be a good way to do it Waxon67. Pick a date far out there and see how many commit. Limited load for this trip was 35, that's a lot of people if you want to take on the whole boat.

Nice thing about a charter, you can cut that in half, basically having the freedom to fish with your fellow fishers. Just my 2 cents........GT

i tried getting tickets like after 2-3 days after this post and its been sold out.

So how was the fishing boys???

Well the trip was pretty good. TonyG, Oscar, Marlin, Mario, Chris and his father-n-law, and myself turned out for the 5-5 out of DP. It was a limited load, 35 anglers, most of them experienced at fishing which made it enjoyable. Left at 5AM and picked up some nice size sardines and off we went. Air temp around 70 degrees, some wind and overcast. I believe we headed SW out into open waters with 3-4 foot swells and drift fished over schools of fish. If you have not taken one of these trips, a lot of your time is spent trying to locate the fish.
We ended up off of the south end of Catalina Island, out about 8 miles inside, I would guess. As far as I could tell we ended up heading back towards DP as the day wore on. About 10AM one guy hooked up a Dorado that came up out of the water like a rocket. It was like you see in the films, magnificent. First fish to be landed. OK that excited all of us, good karma. Then a yellowfin was landed a few minutes later. Then nothing. Nothing for quite awhile. People were starting to get tired of stopping, then moving.
About and hour and a Half out from DP we hit a school of fish. One gentleman hooked up to the right of me, hurrah, maybe this will be the honey hole. About ten minutes later I hooked up with a Yellowfin, Fight on. Then a guy to the left of me hooks up, all three of us fighting for position at the bow end of the boat. It was great. Everyone helped out shifting positions, deck hands right there orchestrating our moves. The guy to my left landed his, and I landed mine. Then maybe 10 to 15 minutes later Oscar hooks up and lands a beautiful Yellolwtail. The first angler I mentioned, he was still fighting his fish, it was getting past our time, but we watched as he made his way around the boat at least 3 times. As the fish got close to the surface, it was a large yellowtail, and snap! At that point thw captain headed home, arriving at DP close to 6PM. LONG day, count was 5 Yellowfin, 1 Yellowtail and a Dorado
