Which PFD???

I need to buy a PFD.
I'm guessing one that has a thin walled flat back.
Please throw name brands and models at me.

I am also looking at the compact manual inflatable PFD's.

If you have not already done it do a search.

We have a bunch of discussions here on PFD's. I bought a camo colored one designed for fisherman, pockets galore, from WalMart rated for 200  pounds because it was cheap. I use the pockets to store stuff, but it is a clunky at times. Some people swear by the comfort of the inflatables. I myself don't want to spend the money or do the yearly test and replacement of the CO2 cartridge.

I haven't seen the discussions on PFD's as of yet but I will definitely take a look for the discussions now. Thanx.

I currently have a foam filled fishing one from bass pro but I would recommend either a kayaking/paddling pfd or an inflatable one.

This is what i wear. thin build not many pockets to get in the way if they were full. I have enough storage on the tube! comfortable to wear, and around the neck too. doesn't ride up and doesn't get in the way of casting. pay close attention to the reviews, as sizing is sometimes a bit off. but I'm a bigger guy, 6'0 250 lbs.

Nice Choice That was the First Life Vest I used , the only thing that made me change was that it would not inflate unless the manual pull was grabbed and what if something really happened and I was out alone and unconscious ? no way to pull that handle . So I changed to the ONYX A/M-24 Deluxe Automatic Manual Inflatable Life Jacket , gave me a few small pockets and it inflates by pull or with 2lbs of water pressure .. It was all just a peace of mind thing

Jerdon : changing or checking the Co2 is the easiest thing in the world to go to something comfortable to wear while tubing i would not let that put me off and watch for deals Onyx is always having great deals on vest

But in the end like i said its all peace of mind and what fits the bill of your wallet lol

This PFD is advertised as:

• Automatically inflates upon immersion in water or when the wearer pulls the inflation handle.

Are you saying that this particular PFD "will not" automatically inflate when submersed?

it looks like they changed it a bit ... I have one i purchased  2yrs ago and i checked for the manual to automatic inflate switch and it does not have it , like the newer models do ... good deal then your all set  

they are a very comfortable PFD and light especially in the Summer months and you can wear it always  , heck i was just looking at my profile pic here and i am wearing it there , the blue one

You had me worried    there buddy ... well, for just a moment!

I spent hours reading and researching all the discussions last night after having received Jerdon's suggestion to research all the PFD discussions. Great advice received ... well worth the read!

I feel as though I purchased the correct PFD for all the right reasons.
