How about a few more details?
Fishfinder type, battery type, and locations to name a few.

Otherwise I'd ask why not have a fuse?

Ya not sure you need anything like that, but not sure what you are looking for. I simple mount connect to battery and off I go.

I have a piranha max and it is hooked up to 10 aa battery pack. The manual says to use a 1 Amp fuse but I am thinking it might not be necessary. Does anyone else use an inline fuse with their finders?

I recommend adding a little dielectric grease at each end of the fuse to keep corrosion down. Marine environment can do wonders to electrical contacts and make them a pretty green.
