FTFF Gathering Officer

Lake Perris is using Copper Sulfate (blue stoning the lake). Was there around 8 am, lady at the entrance mentioned no float tubes in the water until 12:30 pm because of the treatment.

Went to Sail Cove, saw trucks and a helicopter along the dam. Helicopter slowly releasing the Copper Sulfate throughout the water.

Have never seen the treatment before, first experience. Decided to leave shortly after. Just a heads up for all the Perris fishermen.

they usually always do it 2x a yr at Perris  , I fished yesterday and will more likely go Friday I have had some great days after the treatment . It is awesome that they got back on schedule with it , not only does it help with the blue/green algae , but it improves water clarity , smell and it reduces plant growth more (shallow)  we all have to remember Perris is a drinking water source and that's a huge reason they do it 2x a yr as it is one of the easily most populated and usually 2nd highest grossing lake for the state for Fishing , boating and family events   Smile

See you on the Water ,

I had to re read my notes better, but yes to August.
I got August 18 to 22 in my notes, but the 22cd was the day they BlueStoned.

This is from their FaceBook page.

Lake Perris State Recreation Area
August 18 ·
ATTENTION (Notice of Lake Closure) Copper Sulfate treatment scheduled for Monday August 22nd.
On Monday, August 22nd the lake will be closed to from 0600 AM till 2:00 PM while copper sulfate is dropped by helicopter. The lake will be closed to swimming and boating but all other park activities will be open (Camping, hiking, biking). Lake Perris is used by hundreds of thousands of Southern California residents for water consumption. Copper Sulfate improves water quality and also prevents toxic Alage blooms which have impacted Silverwood Lake, Lake Elsinore, and Canyon Lake this summer.

Thanx for sharing your knowledge with all.

You may have saved someone a trip to the lake.
