Fished the LAB today for the first time in over a year.  I decided to go for some harbor fishing since the swells were not that kind today.  I forgot how fun it was catching Spotties.  Angry little dudes they are.

All my fish came off of bright colors today and reaction baits fished slow on the bottom.  The incredibly filthy post storm water quality guided me to stick with that pattern.

Total Fish Count: 13
2 legal spotties, 2 near legal (short by an inch)
Everything else was mini-spotties, calicos, sand bass, and this fiesty cuda that came out of nowhere.  I saw them at various points in the harbor, surprising actually.  Of all the years I've been at the LAB I've never encountered them.

Crabs and Tako!  Didn't know that there was octopi in the harbor, but I can't say that I'm surprised.

Hi ya Ifishtoolittle,

Excellent fish count and congtrat's on your two legals!
Those legal sized Spotty's got-some shoulders on them and they can really pull hard against the drag!
I've gotten a few Barry's in LAB, but not too big.

Thanx for your fish report, good info!

Great report and thanks for sharing.
As for that grip you have on the barracuda, is that recommended for the larger varieties?

Thanks guys. It's nice to mix it up every now and then.

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, those legal spots were not happy one bit. Keeping them still and unhooking them were a little challenging since they slammed the spinnerbait and swimbait with such ferocity. Good to know about the cudas. I've only had near legal fish at NPH between the jetties.

Yep. There's no ego shot with lipping those barracudas. The teeth on those guys will surely draw blood and may even require stitches depending on the size of the fish.
