FYI, shore report

How often does your significant other tell you that they want to go fish with you? Hardly ever...so I bit and bit hard.
The original plan was to hike a little to view the "super bloom" nearby the lake before fishing a bit. The reality of the situation was a packed trail with patches of blooming wild flowers...not blanketed hills and vallies, so off we went to la Laguna resort.
Parking is 10 bucks with 5 bucks per fisherman. Took the dirt road behind the tackle shop to park on water's edge.

Fished from 12 to 4 for one 5lb carp on a Hera rod. There was another gentleman fishing on the docks in approximately 6' of water knocking the carp dead. Every five minutes or so, he would be hooked up. I wasn't on the tube, but it would be fun to be towed around by some carp all day. The family had a good time but the drive was killer. They want to go again though! cheers

I Hear the crappie bite is still slow, but is expected to pick up soon. The bass bite is decent since they dropped in a plant recently. Water is still green, but it is higher than last year. It felt good to be out again.

Way to go on getting out and catching one.
Do you know what the water temp is there?

Hera fishing...no reel... when I was a kid, there was a guy who lived down the street who used to fish that way with a line tied to the end of a bamboo pole he would cut from his yard. We thought he was hopelessly old fashioned and a little crazy.

I didn't know it was a thing. Thanks for the report and the intro to Hera fishing!

I believe it's about the high 50s. It felt pretty warm. No one was able to confirm though.

Bob: thanks for the kind words. I was recently introduced to Hera fishing as well. Its a very different fight and really fun. Only thing strange about it is the length of the rod. I use an 18 footer. I have friends that use 21s and some use shorter depending on where they are fishing. Draw back is the cost of the rods is just as much if not more than regular rods... Rolling Eyes
