Met up with Alakai early yesterday morning at 6:15am and launched roughly around 6:30am. Fished until close to 11am before heading back.
pre-report: I learned a "valuable" lesson hauling my FT from the car to the launch spot - make sure everything is secured well! (at least with Outcast tubes). The zipper on one of my pockets came undone (probably because I had the GoPro and pole (which I didn't even end up using...argh) sticking out of one of the corners, with the weight of it causing the zipper to pull down) and I dropped several items on the lawn in between the launch spot and parking lot without even knowing it. It wasn't until I was 5-10 mins on the water that I realized I was missing my sunglasses. I felt bad wasting time but Alakai was nice enough to stick around and fish the nearby area while waiting. I made my way back over and there happened to be a nice maintenance worker out there who I asked if she saw my sunglasses and cloth case. She said no but that she found some tube thing that someone dropped... at first I had no idea what she was talking about but then she showed me and it turned out to by the inflator tube for the pump and FT! I was so lucky to have bumped into her, else I would have had a really bad day. I had no idea I lost the tube as well until she mentioned it and showed it to me....SMH. I ended up finding my sunglasses as well - they were laying in the grass after re-tracing my steps. Mission accomplished...phew.
Anyway, onto the actual report: water was a little nippier than last week despite showing around the same temps (I may start wearing the waders on future sessions). I think we were around 65-67F. We decided to take a route around "triangle island" with the tide in mind to make things easier. And it sure did once we got to the main channel and mostly rode it back to Seabridge. NOTE: it felt like there was so much more distance to cover while being on the water versus what I had looked at on Google Maps LOL
It was slow starting out but I did get a couple nice bites that I just couldn't connect on. I was fishing a sardine green HUB. Then at one point I snagged on something (perhaps a sand bag but it wasn't moving at all), and lost the brand new HUB I switched over to the 'lucky' chovy that Jeff gave me on last week's session. Interestingly, I had thrown it into my tackle box next to Ornery Bob's red tube bait and some of the red from that bled into the HUB, which gave it a hint of red. So I fished the 'bleeding chovy' the rest of the day with pretty good results with a PB (I think) Spottie of 14-15", a couple 12-inchers, and a few smaller BSBs:

Most of all, it's just nice being out on the water and in the middle of solitude and a bunch of really expensive homes hahaha
