This is a late report but me and a friend made it out to LAB for a night time session. We launched from 68th st around 630. We headed out and started fishing the docks and rocks around the stretch from the boat house restaurant to Ballast point and we had some luck. Caught sand bass and spotted bay bass. Then we kicked out and fished the jetty around the alamitos bay yacht club. This spot wasn't producing so we kicked back and fished in front of ballast point and i caught the biggest bass from a tube, an 18 inch sand bass. Which flipped away as i went to take a picture. After we fished here for a few hours we kciked and started fishing in front of the marins there, we caught some more fish, I ended up cathcing two leagal potties right at the 14 inch mark. Then to end the night we kciked across the channel there and fished the houses and docks right there where we ended up catching a few more legal spotties and to top the night off I ended up cathcing a 20-21 inch halibut. All in all it was a great night on the water. We finally got off the water around 1230am. There was a lot of action for not having a lot of tidal movement.
One thing I about this spot the tide tends to surge then slack then surge again. The water tends to surge the most right there at the yatch club. It seems to act as funnel on the out gong tude. When you have larger tidal movements it can get ppretty hard to kick agianst that outgoing tide. Just a little tid bit there when fishing the outgoing tide. Thanks for reading and sorry for the rambling lol.
