Has anyone run into this problem?  I live in Chesapeake, VA where a lot of our freshwater lakes are governed by the City of Norfolk.  One of their posted rules at the lake locations are "No Inflatables allowed "

They limit boat engines to a max of 12hp. I believe the word Inflatables just protects them from kids being pulled around on tubes.

Currently I still sneak out on them but I feel like I'm always looking over my shoulder.

Has anybody run into this problem?
Can anyone help with recommendations?

Kindest regards,
PaPaBass

I have never heard of a “no inflatable’s” sign ever being posted anywhere!
I think that I would investigate this and find out what the correct definition of the meaning of the sign is or it’s intent.

That is a tough one but where there is a will there is away. I hope things work out for you and I am sure they will.

I might go to the City and see if I can get a waiver. But I'm sure it's politics that will tie this up for long after I'm float tubing. I'm just going to keep on keeping on.

There is a sign at some Lakes in Southern California that says "Inflatables Allowed" at the launch ramps. I always assumed they were referring to the towing variety drug behind the power boats.

You mean "No" inflatables right? That's what I thought until a city worker of the lone star lakes parks told me no inflatables at all.

No, It says "Inflatables Allowed" and it means they can drag people behind the boat on those banana looking inflatables and giant tubes. Some lakes don't allow the big inflatables to be towed.

Oh ok, thanks. I just don't understand the reasoning behind it. I could see if we had gators.

I have been told that they actually mean NO inflatables. From what they tell me, they are concerned that if the inflatables sink they will get stuck in the pump suctions or something. All of our lakes in this area are reservoirs and they all have pumps that move water in some way. Not sure if that is true but that is what I have been told. It has actually kept me from buying another float tube. I miss my tube.

That is a bummer.
Here is a link to some "hard shell" alternatives.

I hope you get on the fish there one way or another.
