Flyrod holder for rods without a 'butt'?

I'm trying to find some kind of float tube flyrod holder that will work with my older Fenwick FF-85 fly rods that do not have any 'butt' part of the rod sticking out below the reel. I want a holder to be used while I drift and slow troll my flies. Looks like most of the rod holders for fly rods are made for rods that have this bit of a butt extension that sticks out a couple inches below the fly reel. With older fiberglass rods, they don't work in these holders. Has anyone come across this problem? Has anyone made their own holder for this type of rod?

The Scotty rod holder doesn’t work. This is a head scratcher for me. I don’t understand all the positive reviews of this rod holder. As other people have indicated, good luck holding any flyrod in here that doesn’t have the fighting butt on it. Even then, the rod is so loose that if you hook a fish, and you have a rod that you care anything at all about, you’ll be worried about its demise. It’s too loose and rickety. Also it only pivots up and down, but not side to side. That made it worthless for me from the start.

I found this today only issue is no float tube setup at least yet.

Why don’t you just make it a DIY project out of 1.5” ABS pipe? I would.
You have an good idea of what you want for a rod holder already.

Hi SP, I was just responding about the photo of the rod holder holding a fly rod with a butt section. I haven't figured out a design to hold a rod without the butt section yet and don't have any of that type on my tube or toon.
