I knew today was not going to be the best day to go out but I have to admit at one point I thought I had bit off more than I can chew. Weather said rain was in the forecast but I didn't expect the wind to be an issue. My Son, @jc153, and I set off around 8am with clouds and a little wind. About an hour in we were being pushed and had to go into a cove with a hill to stay out of it. We probably stayed in that cove for about 2 hours and fished the hell out of it since we had no where else to go. JC and I each landed one and the kick back to the launch gave me multiple cramps. I thought about kicking to the banks but they were way too steep. Took us over an hour to travel less than a mile. I don't know if it is always this windy there but if it is I will not be returning on a floattubes. Water levels were super hight. I could see tree tops sticking up about a foot above water.
Ps. My son wanted a picture with my fish.. 😂

Ya sometime wind can catch you off guard. I have been in that situation before and it can be rough to say the least. But when your kid is with you oh crap. Glad you guys got out and found some fish good memories either way.

My wind cut off is 12 mph and my get out of the water is at 18 mph.
I learned different areas for wind protection and shelter … so that I could continue to fish and not deal with the wind.
Fishing in the wind; and being blown away from your launch, can be exhausting experience.

I am super happy for you guys that you caught 🎣fish and that you made some lasting memories pops!!

Thank you for the fish report with pictures! 👍🏼

Hey Pablo, I fish El Cap quite a bit and I can tell you with certainty that it isn't always that windy. At this time of year the wind can be unpredictable. I fished Otay this last weekend and it got quite windy there as well.

One of the reasons I am looking forward to mounting a Bixpy motor under my tube is to have it available when wind comes up. I think it will be a big help when I have to kick against it back to my launch site.

Congrats on a good catch though! What bait did you use?
