So the kid (desertstorm28) and I made plans to tube perris for the 4th time, the previous 3 trips have all provided little bits of an "education" to us newbies, (dense fog, freezing temps, and an afternoon breeze to ride back to the launch), all has been good stuff, so as we check the weather for yesterday we see sunny skies and warm temps, Pack Up the truck, we're going tubin!! Saw that Basshole was looking to fish also so got him onboard with hopes of him lippin his first Perris bass.
We also see that there is to be a little bit of a breeze tomorrow, dying off to <10 mph by 9am. Worried, nah!....(you tubin veterans can see where this is headin)
So we meet up with Basshole at lot11/12 around 830 and it's blowin a nice headwind into shore, we figure to get geared up and then launch when the wind dies down. Turtle club down to the water and setup the tubes. Wind has started to let up and the 2 eager newbies hit the water.
TOSSED is a good description of our launch attempt, waves cappin over the back of the Fishcat as we try to kick out to the edge of the toolies, going nowhere, as soon as we stop kicking we're beached. Lesson learned kids, wind is a major factor to tubin!
The decision is made to shore fish with hopes of waiting out the wind., which only lasted about another 30min. The wind dies down and everybody hits the water. Turned into a gorgeous day on the water But with no love for myself or Basshole (still lookin for 1st Perris bass), desertstorm28 (the kid) beats the skunk with a nice trout on a marinaded night crawler, and we all ride the 2:00 tailwind back to the launch site.
We all had some good laughs about the morning's events, and our continuing education. Looking forward to the next trip, but you can keep the <10mph wind!
