I'm gonna mostly concentrate on chucking the big baits and dragging a jig on the bottom

Pay close attention to what I do at Perris, AND THEN DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE!!! Still on the lifetime skunk there as of 09/2012! That's over a year now!

when in doubt... drop shot!!! Purple colors work well as do Green and jigs work as well... I'll probably throw some Umbrella Rig for a big as well. I'm sure a couple of guys will be out chucking the big baits they've been stocking trout so you might get lucky

Not too long ago I got my fingers on some fishbone swimbaits in trout color. (they look similar to big hammers but with ribs) They would be rigged with a leadhead... would something like that work for LMB. I've never used lead heads in fresh water.

Yep, it sure could. Just be aware that LMB like Structure, rocks, weeds, reeds, whatever, so be mindful if your tossing a Non weedless lure in the thick of things, cuz that's where the bass will be, sure you might catch 1 or 2 cruising shallow water for food, but LMB are Ambush predators.

For those throwing swimbaits, toss the slow sinkers, and be aware of where your bait is in the water column, exposed hooks get snagged pretty easy, so best to keep your bait at least a foot off the bottom, unless your tossing Huddelstons, then I find it's best to bottom bounce them, as that attracts attention from the bass, and the possibility to provoke a strike is higher than just swimming it along imho. If you have any 316 Mission fish, I'd favore tossing those right in the thickest stuff you can find.

Good Luck.Cool

LMB are way more line shy than SBB. When you Drop Shot use flourocarbon line in 6-8 lb. You can also use braid with a FC leader.

LP water is so dirty I wouldnt worry about the fish being line shy, I have landed plenty of bass from there on braid only.
Fisher gave some good color info for that lake.

Fish at Perris are not shy. Cold weather been shifting game plans like crazy. If you have a barometic meter, bring it with you. It will give you a nice scope of where to tackle as the pressure rises and drops.

Honey holes right now with constant pressure is along the shoreline. As people chimed in, senko, watermelon and pumpkin with flakes are the go to. 6" roboworms, watermelon, olive, pumpkin, and red-black, all with flakes, are the go to. Fish it slow, dropshot, or shakey head. When the pressure rises and drops about 0.2 to 0.4, get ready to go deep into the 20 to 40ft drop-off zones.

Hidden honey spot are all along the island, if you have the strength to kick yourself there. I switched over to the kayak to get to the hidden lagoon that would have taken me over 40 minutes to get to by float tube, risking a bladder blow out along the way. Now, I can get there in less than 7 minutes. Bernasconi launch lagoon is a great way to land some 1 to 4lbs right off the bat at sunrise/sunset. You may be able to land a few lurking cats and carp in the 10lbs to 20lbs category.

Water has risen from our outing on Saturday. Predatory fishes are chasing baitfishes all the way to the shallow. Be on the lookout for boils near shorelines, especially the Bernasconi side, as well as the Parking Lot 11 & 12 ramp area.
