I have used Dropshot and regular lead head jigs and some fly lining baits in. But I am wanting to try a C-Rig or Caroline Rig but I am sure your guys new that. Has anyone ever tried this in the salt. I am planning on using my hand poured dropshot worms on this. The float great and I hope it will be a deadly combo.  Very Happy

I've used it for perch on the surf with great success. Doesn't do as well as ds and weedless jigs when there's a lot of eel grass around.

I am just looking for a rig that will allow me to trail my bait as well as float it above the bottom not so much like a DS.

That's actually a deadly technique jeff. Try it, I think you will like it. Another technique to add to your arsenal to help make you a more well rounded angler.

you can also use a three way swivel and float it at whatever distance off the bottom you want.

What about drop shot on a dropper loop. That way it sticks out further from the main line and has a little more play.

Hey Jeff....depending on bait size for hook...but usually I put a split shot and just drag it back....seems to work me all the time....when nothing else is working..c-rig time ! Worms r great for c rig I use those sandworms from gulp and they do good

You also might want to take a peak at the darter heads and scrounger heads.

Do those scroungers work well. Hammer gave me a few packs of those when I got the chronarch from him. I was wondering if they are any good?

They're garbage. Just give them to me and I'll properly dispose of them for you  Red Smile

They work well with baits that don't have action like the zoom fluke for example

Ya I have used those also very cool jig head, also there is a simple method of makeing your own scroungers out of you simple jig heads. I will see if I can find the article.

x 2 on the darter heads.  I use them in the bay with a fools bait [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] which is like a worm.  I have caught several fish from shore with this darter head method.  I'm sure it would work fine from the tube.  Just my $.02

You may also try a rubber core weight a foot or so above the worm so you don't have to worry about a slider sinker and swivel.

You wanted to know about lines, right? You will want to use Flouro for your main line and Mono for your leader. One sinks the other floats. Use as light a hook as you can get away with.
