lake cahuilla

Has anyone ever fished this lake before?

I'm going to be down in palm desert vacationing next weekend and thinking about tubing one of the days I'm down there. I did a search and found this lake about 20 mins from where I'm staying at.

I also did some research and saw some YouTube videos of some people tubing it and catching trout around some water outlet or something like that.

If anyone happens to have any info about spots to fish and what is biting now please let me know.

I'm betting that there's bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and carp.

Man... Just did some more research and found out that the lake no longer allows any watercraft of any kind in the water anymore.

Bummer going to have to pass on fishing and play another round of golf instead

Wyu, I live 10 minutes from Cahuilla. You are correct that they no longer allow tubing or any other kind of craft on the water. They do not want to do invasive muscle inspections, so they just shut it down. Not a big deal anyways because the fishing has never been great. They stock trout but with the warm winters they do not take real well. Reports of bass and bluegill, but I have been fishing there for 10 years and never personally seen anything other than trout and cats in the summer.

I used to fish this little private spot, for bass. Ots about 20 min from palm desert. It was cool because I usually had the entire place to myself. Nothing of great size but had a couple 20+ fish days. I been wanting to hit that place back up. Don't know if it's still accessible but I'll check this week. If u feel like hittin that place up let me know.

BTW...how did you manage a vacation rental during week 1 of Coachella Fest??? I have heard of people booking up Motel 6 rooms and selling them off for $500 a nite due to the amount of people here for the concert!

I have seen pics of some really BIG bass taken from there. But these were about 2-3 years ago. The guys fished from shore and I believe they were tossing big Rattletraps. Made me want to go and fish for bass there!
