Took my 10 yr old daughter at around 1:30 and hit up our usual spot all the way West of the parking lot. 1 Trout on her little Ugly Stick Mini pole. 1 small Bass on her casting rod and 1 turtle. Trout put up one hell of a fight because it got wrapped around magazine and felt like a 5 pound Carp. Shake shake, still, pull, stop, shake, stop, what the hell is this thing?
Met a great old Asian guy who showed us how he rigs up his 12 pound test to free-line for Bass. Free-lining has befuddled me for a while now. This guy had 3 of his treasured worms left and gave my daughter one of them.
I think he was nice because how often do you come across a ten year old girl that out fished you that day and is willing to listen and learn.
I made her sit and watch him fish which pissed her off a little bit but jesus, how often do get an opportunity to watch someone who know's a hell of a lot more than you do their thing?
I kept telling her, hey look, this guy has caught more and bigger fish here than you have ever seen so sit, watch and learn.

On another note, since it was the two of us she wanted to try her mothers bait caster and she effing nailed it! I couldn't be more proud of her.
Lol, S**t, I should probably go clean that trout. cya

Isn't that the best? Fishing with your kids and watching them improve?
Congratz on the day!

Thanks Jerdon it is the best thing. I keep replaying watching her cast the rod that's 3 feet taller than her. Especially difficult because her is very unique. If I cast her rod a few times I will screw up my first five casts on my own rod. Kids are much more, I guess, adjustable than adults. Or they find it easier to adapt to new things.
I forgot to mention when she went to set the hook on her Bass she was so excited the she yanked that pole like someone was trying to steal it from her and smacked me on the side of the head!

Thats great your daughter is into fishing! You told her to sit and watch a guy fish, and she was upset. Are you sure she smacked you in the head by accident? lol
